Fearne’s on the move at Radio 1

BBC Radio 1 announced this morning that Fearne Cotton will be moving to weekdays to present the 10am - 12.45pm slot.

We caught up with Fearne exclusively to get her reaction to the news and she said:

“I’m more than excited about my new show at Radio 1! I just love working there so getting to go in every weekday to chat, play music and interview people is a dream come true!

Jo Whiley has made that slot what it is. It’s nerve wracking stepping into Jo’s shoes and being responsible for the Live Lounge! Jo is one of the main reasons I got into radio! She has been a massive inspiration to me over the years and will always be the queen of cool!

I’m now just raring to get going with it all in September!

Fearne will be taking over from Jo Whiley who has been hosting the show since 2001 as part of a major shakeup at Radio 1 which sees the new daytime schedule looking like this:

4.00am - 6.30am Dev

6.30am - 10.00am Chris Moyles

10.00am - 12.45pm Fearne Cotton

12.45pm - 1.00pm Newsbeat

1.00pm - 4.00pm Greg James

4.00pm - 7.00pm Scott Mills
