BLOG: Fix Up Look Sharp!
16/11/2009 @ 1:12 pmHow did I, the bug-eyed kid from Harrow end up on a stage at the Albert hall with Sir Paul McCartney and Take That!? It should never have happened. In fact, I should have personally evicted myself from the stage as I was not worthy to be up there at all! I think it was genuinely one of the most surreal yet magical moments of my career so far.
The Children in Need concert was phenomenal! Captain Barlow pulled out all the stops and put together one of the biggest, electric and controversial nights in the music calendar. The duets alone were one of the most talked about subjects for weeks before, Take That and Robbie - will they or won’t they? Dame Shirley Bassey and Dizzee Rascal…surely never?! Cheryl Cole and Lily Allen in the same room!? It’ll never happen! Well, most of it did.
Robbie and Take That DID make it on stage together…they just didn’t sing. Most seem to think it’s a good indication of where things are headed though! EXCITING! Dame Shirley and Mr Rascal pulled off one of the performances of the night, and Cheryl and Lily WERE in the same room as each other but still aren’t exactly mates. Everyone piled on stage for a big sing along with Sir Paul McCartney at the end of the show. Throughout the group rendition of Hey Jude, Chris Moyles and I spent most of the time shouting “ISNT THIS GREAT!? ” to each other whilst beaming!
It was a very special evening bound to raise a lot of money for Children in Need. I skipped back to my dressing room as high as Jedward’s hair and slumped into a chair still beaming. THEN as soon as reality sunk in there it was …the PAIN! I had squeezed my trotter feet in to a pair of very high strappy gorgeous shoes all night long. Running up and down the corridors of the Albert Hall and dancing to Hey Jude had done some serious damage. I removed said torture devices and THIS is what my feet looked like!
NICE!
It’s been a week of teetering on heels. The Cosmopolitan ‘Fun Fearless Female Awards’ were also this week. I adore these as they’re so inspirational and moving. Really amazing women and the odd man showing us how brave, strong, compassionate and BRILLIANT we all can be if we put our minds to it. I’m also on the judging panel each year which is one of the toughest jobs ever but along with Sarah Brown, Vernon Kay, Alesha Dixon and Karen Brady I feel we picked the most deserving winners that evening. It was my fourth year of hosting the awards and I hope each year we can make it bigger and even more fabulous.
A busy week in the Live Lounge too what with the new line up Sugababes popping in, Robbie Williams doing his first ever LL, and N-Dubz causing havoc and laughter all round. It was the Sugababes’ first time singing as a new line up and they were all nervous but totally pulled it out the bag with tons of harmonies and soul. Robbie gave us three songs for the price of one and included some hilarious lines about his pet dog Poopette in his version of the Killer’s classic Human, and N-Dubz made me laugh out loud with their energy and banter.

This weekend I refused to get out of my pj’s. To complete the look I had a bowl of cereal on my lap at all times and the TV remote nearby. Hell, I may even go to Radio One like this for the rest of the week!!
Peace and Love,
