BLOG: My Hero!!

This week has been unofficial RAWWKK week at BBC Radio 1. Meeting two mighty titans of the genre in one week is surely illegal. I can’t cope with it that’s for sure. Tuesday saw Bon Jovi flip the Live Lounge on its head with an insane performance. It was a special session from broadcasting house, which meant mid radio show I had to sprint in the rain down to a separate studio and ended up looking like a drowned rat on arrival! Then Wednesday saw the Dave Grohl takeover and general love fest! You always hear people say he’s the nicest man in the music industry and I can now confirm this 100%. How can a rock star who has played in Nirvana, Foo Fighters and now Them Crooked Vultures be so chilled, down to earth and funny as hell! I spilt cereal all down my top and was nervous about meeting the God but one glimpse of that massive Grohl grin and everything was fine. He played My Hero acoustic for us which was truly one of the weirdest moment of my life. I almost had a slight out of body experience where my head was on over time thinking ‘Why am I in a room with only 3 other people and one happens to be the mighty Grohl playing guitar two foot away from me?’ Spectacular! A legend who shows the rest how it’s done!!

To cap off the week of the big dogs I went and watched Jay-Z at Alexandra Palace. It was my bezzies birthday and she is a hardcore fan so the in car excitement was at fever pitch as we climbed the hill in London town nearing Jigga man’s venue of choice! As per usual he rocked, popped, stopped, dropped it, cranked it, had it large, and left us all wanting more! If you go to a Jay-Z gig not knowing whether you’re a fan or not, you’re sure to come out wearing a Blueprint 3 T-shirt throwing diamonds hand signs in the air! 

I’m exhausted and can’t believe it’s only Thursday! I think bonfire night may be slightly soggy for me, hot choc and a neck crank out the bathroom window to steal some neighbours firework action and an early night!
