Blog: Happy New Year!

04/01/2010 @ 8:15 pm

I’ve turned into a sloth. The slothiest sloth there is. During crimbo limbo (the week inbetween Xmas and New Year’s) I wore the same jumper and tracksuit bottoms for nearly the whole stretch! Gross. I know it. I’m saying it out loud as part of my post Christmas recovery.

A new decade to start over, refresh, plan, be adventurous, and chase goals… just after I’ve finished eating the left over Quality Street. I know at some point I will feel motivated but for now I’m having too much fun being lazy.

I did have a rather chaotic time before the sloth creature took over.

My on air BBC Radio1 Christmas party got us all in the festive spirit. A morning I shall never forget. Kelly and Adam from the Stereophonics singing Dakota acoustic, Rob Brydon and James Corden’s impromptu version of Last Christmas (hilarious) and Charlie from Fightstar’s chilling Santa Claus is Coming to Town which I still secretly listen to daily.

My dad did one of his infamous quizzes (any special occasion acts as an excuse for one) and mumatron interviewed Rob Brydon (poor Rob… not sure he’s yet recovered).

After we came off air the after party kicked off and went on til the wee hours. The Mcfly boys cranked up the volume and all my mates and old school pals danced til they dropped.

I have loose memories of dancing on my BRAND NEW sofa with shoes on (a crime) whilst singing Mariah Carey into my Blackberry (aka my microphone) whilst wearing Harry Mcfly’s christmas jumper.

Christmas day ran in an identical fashion to the  previous 27  I’ve experienced and I loved every minute. Followed by a hilarious New Year’s Eve. It began as a civilised dinner party with some close friends including Reg and his brother.

By midnight we had gatecrashed a private party in a bar down the road and were bundling each other on the sofas to bemused slightly less excited faces!

This hopefully explains why the sloth like character has inhabited my being for now. I’m back on the wireless from the 11th so will have to get out of my pj’s and leave the house before then!

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and that 2010 brings you love, luck & happiness

Peace Cotton

xx

Happy New Year Fearne! And to Mumatron.

Glad to see you had a good time. What a beautiful picture of Kelly & Adam. I got my mum and I tickets for Stereophonics as her Christmas present, only 50 days to go. Too Excited!
It’s not fair that you can pull off such garments as a Christmas Jumper and still look fabulous! Looking forward to you being back on the Radio. Hope everything goes wonderfully for you in 2010!
    xx

Sounds (and looks) like someone had fun! I have been a similar sloth and wearing my uni hoodie is making me feel better about doing nothing for my dissertation over the holidays. Least I’m giving them free advertising! I vow to improve by the 11th!
