Fearne Gets Behind Sport Relief 2010
04/02/2010 @ 4:27 pmThe BT Sport Relief Million Pound Bike Ride officially launched today as a host of celebrities are now gearing up to take part in a nonstop cycle relay from John O’Groats to Lands End in a bid to raise £1 million for Sport Relief 2010.
By no means a stranger to Sport Relief challenges (after astonishingly completing his super swim across the English Channel in 2006) David Walliams is set to take to the saddle with the team mates he’s enlisted - including Davina McCall, Jimmy Carr, Miranda Hart, Patrick Kielty, Russell Howard and our very own Fearne Cotton

The courageous team will face a gruelling 80 hours of nonstop cycling, through the day and night, before they reach Lands End.
Little Britain star, David Walliams says, “As if swimming the English Channel in 2006 wasn’t enough I’ve now roped in a team of people to help me rise to the challenge for Sport Relief again! It’s a phenomenal undertaking and going to be really tough but we’re all training hard to make sure we all get to Land’s End and hopefully raise a million pounds for Sport Relief. I’ve seen what money raised through Sport Relief can do and it really does make a difference. It will be this keeping me going through the tough journey ahead.”
The entire team will have to battle the elements as they each take turns to cycle through wind, rain, and rough terrain in order to cover the 1000 miles - and they’ll be ferociously pedalling for pounds as they strive to reach their massive £1 million target.
To help the team get off to a flying start, BT is declaring ‘Chat for Change’ day on 26 February 2010. On behalf of its customers, BT will donate 1p to Sport Relief for every call made from a BT and a Plusnet home landline on that day.
All the ups and downs of their journey will be captured for a documentary which will be broadcast on the BBC in the run up to the Sport Relief Weekend on Friday 19th - Sunday 21st March.
